Course objective

The Master is a multidisciplinary postgraduate program designed for students and professionals who are interested in heritage conservation, site management, museum studies, tourism, creative industries, architectural heritage, historical towns, and cultural landscapes.

The complexity of the challenge in Phase Restoration of artifact artistic just discovered, is first of all in identifying it as such, avoiding to be in front of a fake, and you must then comply with the need to recover its cultural message and the its history, stabilizing with respect to the new environment in which it will be preserved for its usability. In the restoration we resort to all that scientific research has made ​​available to physicists, chemists, engineers and architects in terms of methodologies and tools, to remove it from the Cultural Heritage, everything that time he acted on it in the sense of 'obfuscation of his message. Above all are particularly relevant analytical techniques for advanced analysis and innovative approaches to sampling that allow you to move forward and overcome the limitations of the analysis of materials. The instrumentation used for Cultural Heritage is not simply the one used at the production level, but must be prepared to adapt to very high quality standards and requires adaptation advanced in order to apply innovative methods and outdated that are at the forefront of information entropy decrease of scientific model of the specimen.

In the conservation of historic and artistic heritage should be considered the most recent advances in research on material elements, the degradation, and the conservation strategies. This makes it possible to deal in an effective and efficient (in terms of purely economic) problems of diagnosis and the application of the treatments to be implemented for the conservation and utilization. In particular, environmental change, exacerbated by climate change, are a significant threat to the sustainability of the Italian cultural heritage. The phase of Conservation requires a great attention to the environment in which the Cultural Property is located, or is introduced by its use. The aim is to pass it down to future generations and to adapt the environment in which he resides, the standards appropriate to its conservative scientific model. This imposes the problem of environmental control that involves sensors, electronics, development of computer codes of both date mining that automated management (neuronal, fuzzy logic, artificial intelligence, etc.).
